Le Petit Prince
March-May 2007, oil on linen, 30”h x 24”w.
Within the vastness of the galaxy, two protagonists populate a barren lunar landscape. In the distance, a diminutive Buzz Aldrin stands back from the American flag he has just set in place. In the foreground, a young Cameroonian boy laden with his wares of candy observes the astronaut’s accomplishment. Through his reflective gaze we are left to ponder this exploration of our solar system in light of how such missions relate to human progress.
