Founding Fathers (Mahatma Gandhi and General George Washington)
July-December 2003, oil on linen, 22”h x 18”w.
In this imagined encounter between the founding fathers of India and the United States of America, General Washington looks up at Gandhi who has just placed his hand on Washington’s shoulder. Gandhi, the modern world’s leading exponent of peace and non-violence, provides brotherly comfort to Washington who holds a satellite photo of the swirling earth in his hands.
